176: Winning the War on Talent with Army Veteran Ryan Kellogg

Interested in finding a job at a startup company? On today’s episode, Joe Crane talks about winning the war on talent with army veteran Ryan Kellogg. Ryan is an entrepreneur, US Veteran, and podcast host who is currently on the move in helping organizations identify top talent. Tune in!

“Start branding yourself now. Social media has become such a dominant force in the networking world that the more you can distinguish yourself, the better you’re going to be.” – Ryan Kellogg

From Providence to the Military

Ryan graduated from Providence College, the same school that Entrepreneur on Fire’s John Lee Dumas went to. They spent a lot of great times together as roommates. Ryan appreciates John for motivating him in his own entrepreneurship journey.

In his military career, Ryan first served as a field artillery officer. During that time, he was either on deployment or travelling in Europe. It was not soon after he decided to transition out and return to his family in the US.

In Pursuit of the American Dream

Just like many others, Ryan sought to pursue the great American dream. He thought about having a stable career after his transition.

But things didn’t go pretty well at the start. He struggled for about 2 years and was confused on what to do exactly. After some time of waiting, he landed a job in a financial company.

Helping Companies Find Great Talent

That was when Ryan referred back to the recruiters he met upon entering the military. He found a position in the healthcare industry as the middle manager.

He middle-managed for fortune 500 companies. Eventually he pursued an MBA and started his own journey as entrepreneur. Now, he is helping individuals land jobs through his latest venture named vhipo.
